Our history

The Aurora Cooperative, founded in 1976, is a leader in the production and marketing of fruit and vegetables with particular reference to tomatoes, melons and courgettes. Its primary objective is to guarantee the consumer the highest standards of food safety through product traceability, and this is why production technicians verify the aforementioned quality standards.

Il pomodoro Pachino, infatti, per poter ottenere lo standard di Indicazione Geografica Protetta IGP ha bisogno di alcuni fattori imprescindibili per la sua coltivazione: innanzitutto un clima mite nella quasi totalità dell’anno, con delle terre di coltivazione che devono essere sabbiose e a impasto medio. Grande attenzione deve essere posta anche sull’irrigazione, di cui non si può fare a meno delle acque salmastre. Ne deriva dunque che, all’interno della zona europea, solo il nostro territorio è idoneo alla coltivazione.
L’unico luogo adatto alla coltivazione del Pomodoro Pachino IGP, riconosciuto dall’Unione Europea dal 2014, è proprio Pachino, piccola cittadina della provincia siciliana di Siracusa, nella Sicilia sud-orientale.
